1866 Peter and Susannah Brough of Chambersburg,PA

They were 3rd cousins, having Hermanus Brugh of Bruchsal, Germany as a common ancestor. Hermanus immigrated to PA in 1743, later moving to Fincastle, VA. Hermanus served in the Revolutionary War.

Our direct ancestor. Yes, Brough was her maiden name, too.

1866 Peter Brough, Jr. 1809-1879

Our direct ancestor. He was a shopkeeper and distiller. Peter was a private in the 178th Regiment, Company G, Pennsylvania Volunteers during the Civil War.

Our direct ancestor. Lizzie, married Michael E. Hargleroad at age 15 and gave birth to 13 children in Chambersburg, PA. They came west and in 1875 were pioneers of the area that would become Holstein, NE.
